KUNST HAUS WIEN. Museum Hundertwasser

EXPERIENCE HUNDERTWASSER UP CLOSE:
ART – ARCHITECTURE – ECOLOGY

The Hundertwasser Museum is showcasing the world's largest permanent exhibition of works by the outstanding Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928 -2000), including famous paintings, prints, architectural models and tapestries. Situated just a few streets away from the "Hundertwasser Haus" on the Danube Canal, the exhibition provides the perfect location to immerse yourself in the artist's world of creativity and architecture: inside there are colourful walls and uneven floors, while outside Hundertwasser created the artistic façade using tiles and panels of colour. Two particular highlights of the Kunst Haus Wien are the roof garden with Hundertwasser's private studio apartment, and the living façade. The inner courtyard with its trees and potted plants provide the perfect opportunity to linger after a visit to the museum.

VIENNA'S "GREEN MUSEUM"
365 days a year, come rain or shine, the artist's visionary passion for ecology is on show to visitors in Vienna's first "green museum": Hundertwasser was a man who actively campaigned for environmental protection early on, battling to preserve the Hainburger flood plain and creating the logo for the Austrian environmental symbol. In an architectural context, he anticipated many of the developments of present-day "green architecture" back in the 1980s with his façades and living roofs. Based on his pioneering ideas on ecology and social policy, the Kunst Haus Wien's special exhibitions provide a space for dedicated artists and creative individuals to take a critical and visionary look at issues such as sustainability, climate change, recycling, town planning and cross-generational responsibility from a modern-day perspective.

INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITIONS
Beyond that, the KUNST HAUS WIEN is Vienna´s premier house for photography. Changing exhibitions introduce the biggest names of photography such as Annie Leibovitz, René Burri, Robert Mapplethorpe, Man Ray and Henri Cartier-Bresson to a wide audience. In the past temporary exhibitions have been devoted to such illustrious artists as Andy Warhol, Christo, Picasso, Keith Haring, Niki de Saint Phalle.

HOSPITALITY & CATERING IN THE MUSEUM CAFE
A visit to a museum can sometimes whet your appetite. The museum café, designed and planted with vegetation by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, offers a wide range of international and Viennese dishes for you to enjoy. The splendid inner courtyard is an oasis of green in the heart of the city, inviting visitors to gather new strength and look back over their experiences and impressions. For groups, the restaurant can put together customised menus and group arrangements and looks forward to your enquiry. Catering requests for customer events / seminars can also be accommodated.
